EPIC Joins the Care Leaver Covenant to Empower Young Entrepreneurs

At EPIC, we are committed to creating opportunities for young people who have faced adversity, particularly those with care experience. That’s why we are proud to announce that on 7th January 2025, we officially signed the Care Leaver Covenant, reinforcing our dedication to providing meaningful opportunities for care-experienced young people.

This partnership marks an exciting step forward, as we join a national network of organisations working to ensure care leavers receive the support they need to thrive. Since signing the Covenant, we have begun conversations with like-minded organisations within this community, and we look forward to collaborating to empower care-experienced young people through entrepreneurship.

The Care Leaver Covenant: A Commitment to Change The Care Leaver Covenant is a government-backed initiative that brings together businesses, charities, and public sector organisations to offer tangible support to care leavers aged 16-25. Whether through employment, education, training, or personal development opportunities, the Covenant ensures that young people leaving the care system have the tools they need to succeed.

At EPIC, we recognise that for many care-experienced young people, traditional career paths may not always feel accessible. That’s why we are using entrepreneurship as a vehicle for personal and professional growth, enabling young people to build confidence, develop skills, and explore new opportunities.

EPIC’s Young Business Programme: Unlocking Potential Through our Young Business Programme, we provide care leavers and other young people with a structured, practical route into entrepreneurship.

The programme offers:

✅ Startup Grants – £500 to help kickstart a business idea.

✅ Workshops & Training – Practical, step-by-step guidance on business development.

✅ 1:1 Mentorship – Support from experienced entrepreneurs and professionals.

✅ Community & Networking – A peer-support network of young entrepreneurs.

By signing the Care Leaver Covenant, we are ensuring that care-experienced young people receive tailored, holistic support as they embark on their entrepreneurial journey.

Signing the Covenant is just the beginning. We are already engaging with like-minded organisations within the Care Leaver Covenant community, and we look forward to building partnerships that increase opportunities, break down barriers, and inspire the next generation of young entrepreneurs.
